The TV licence fee is used to fund the BBC, but is required to watch live TV even if you never watch their channels! However, if you don’t watch live TV or iPlayer, you don’t need a licence!
In this article, I will show you how to boycott the TV licence. Not only will you help to defund the BBC’s propaganda programming, but you will save money as well! By the end of this article, you will be ready to cancel your TV licence, and know exactly what to do if they keep pushing you to pay!
To have the biggest impact possible, we need lots of people to boycott the TV licence! That means getting the word out. Please do your part by sharing this article on your social media pages. The public shouldn’t have to pay for the BBC to push a biased agenda on them. It is time to take a stand!
1. Boycott The TV Licence: Cancel Your TV Licence!
If you don’t watch live TV or use iPlayer, you don’t need a TV licence. You can still watch on-demand services, free or subscription. If this is the case for you, you can cancel your TV licence! You don’t need to prove anything or provide evidence, you just need to tell them!
You can cancel your TV licence: online; over the phone; or by post. You can find the online form on their website. The phone number is 0300 790 6112 (Mon-Fri 8:30am-6:30pm), and you will need your TV Licence number. You can write to TV Licensing, Darlington, DL98 1TL, including your name, address, licence number, and a declaration that you don’t require a licence.
2. Boycott The TV Licence: Deal With The Threatening Letters!
After a while, you are likely to get letters asking you to confirm that you still do not need a TV licence. You are under no obligation to respond to them. If you wish, however, you can make another declaration that you still don’t need a TV licence. This will stop the letters for some time.
If you decide not to communicate with them, they will keep sending letters. Some might sound threatening in tone. You can safely ignore them. You have done nothing wrong, and you have no obligation to them.
3. Boycott The TV Licence: Ignore Unwanted Visitors!
If TV Licensing representatives come to your door, you don’t need to speak to them. Their goal is to try to trip you up into saying something that might sound like you require a licence. If you answer the door, politely tell them to leave, and say nothing else.
You are also within your rights to film them, to make sure you have a record of what was said. There is nothing to worry about, you have the right to boycott the TV licence!
