One of the things we discussed was my tweet stating that if you are in England and you are poor, then it's your fault. To some, this is a controversial, or even callus, statement. But it is really about personal responsibility, and ultimately it is empowering.

If you take offence or refuse to accept responsibility, life will be much harder than it needs to be!

1. How To Take Radical Responsibility: Yes, If You Are Poor, It’s Your Fault!

If you live in England, and you are poor, it is your fault. I wouldn’t necessarily say that this is true elsewhere, such as in places without access to clean water, for example. But here in England, the opportunity is there.

That isn’t to say it is easy, or that everyone gets the same start in life. There are many barriers to being successful. However, there are people with the exact same barriers, some that have succeeded and others that have not. This shows that the outcome is ultimately up to the individual.

2. How To Take Radical Responsibility: Understand That This Is Empowering!

But let’s consider the alternative. Let’s say being poor isn’t your fault. Let’s say being poor is just bad luck or the fault of society, for example. Where does that leave you? You are no longer in control. You can’t change everyone else, or change the things that have happened to you, so this mindset makes you powerless.

Even if it wasn’t your fault, it would make sense to adopt the belief that it is! With that belief, you have the best chance of changing your situation. By taking radical responsibility, you put yourself in the driving seat of your life!
