I recently posted a video on my YouTube channel talking about the ‘top 10 worst business advice 2024'. There are a lot of things that you are taught when you are building a business. It is not until you are successful that you realise most of it is total nonsense!

1. Top 10 Worst Business Advice 2024: Always be closing

‘Always be closing’ is a piece of business advice that simply doesn’t work. This advice is used by the type of people that try and push their business at networking events, without trying to learn anything about you! In reality, there are many steps before the close. You need to find out how you can help the person you are talking to before you even attempt to sell them something.

Learn to sell in a way that isn’t focused on you are your business, but on the client and their business. Pre-qualify the person you are speaking to, to make sure your offer is right for them, and they are right for your offer. Remember, it isn’t always time to close!

2. Unique Selling Point (USP)

People spend a lot of time thinking about the USP for their new business, but in reality there are very few things that are actually unique. Out of the few things that actually are unique, most are unique because there isn’t a market for them!

I believe in ‘copying and pasting’ business ideas that have proven to work. If there are a lot of people doing something, chances are there is money in it. Forget being unique, copy things that work!

3. Health before wealth

Health before wealth is said by two types of people: people that are lying and people that are broke! If you haven’t got your income on track, that should be your focus. If you work out correctly, you can be done in 45 minutes a day, the rest of your time should be spent on making money.

Remember, once you are wealthy, you will have more tools for dealing with your health. You can employ personal trainers and buy the best workout equipment. Therefore, wealth can lead to better health, so it makes sense to put it first!

4. Patience in business

Patience is a virtue, but not in business. You need to be hungry for results to succeed. Having patience in business has led a lot of people to failure. People end up building wealth so slowly that they never actually get to enjoy it.

Focus on getting results as soon as you can. If you have an impatient mindset, you will get things done faster and reach your goals sooner!

5. 10-year plans

Things change fast in business. There is no way to know what will happen in a year, never mind 10 years! 10-year plans are useless and encourage procrastination. Focus on what will bring you immediate cashflow and go from there.
