How to grow a business

Wondering how to grow a business? Well, let's start with defining a business. Our resident property entrepreneur, who has over a decade of experience, believes a business is an enterprise which can function successfully without you. In other words, as the entrepreneur, you have to be replaceable. Sounds counter-intuitive doesn't it? Well, think of it like this. If you replace yourself, consider it a promotion rather than a redundancy. Most people are too insecure or short-sighted to even imagine clearing their own desk for somebody else to fill it. You must change your mindset and make changes by systemising your business and putting power teams in place to do the work for you. Your attention should be set on maximising profit rather than churning out the products and services.

Once you have elevated your position as described, you need to become a problem solver. Average people avoid problems, poor people find them and rich people solve them. If you find yourself transfixed by fear of making mistakes, think about the consequences of not taking action. You should be afraid of that. Think about all the amazing inventions, innovations and achievements in the history of the world, how many of them would not exist today if the person was paralysed with self-doubt and insecurity? Don't be a ‘could have', be someone who gave it a go and eventually succeeded.

Another great way to grow your business is to surround yourself with people who offer you positive peer pressure. You need to hang around folks who challenge you. Network with can-do individuals, decision makers, lateral thinkers and big picture observers. If you don't know any, a great place to start meeting these kinds of people is at our events. We attract wonderful men and women from different backgrounds and skillsets.
