1. Jordan Belfort Sales Training: Take Control Of The Sale

If you want to make a sale, you need to be in control. That means being the expert asking the questions, not the person being asked the questions. This requires using tone and body language to come across as sharp and enthusiastic. This allows you to ask questions about the prospective client, without them immediately pushing back.

Never go through a list of questions in a robotic manner. Once you begin asking questions, engage in active listening. This means responding to what your lead is telling you and showing them that you understand what they are saying.

2. Jordan Belfort Sales Training: Build Certainty

Someone will buy once they are certain. Certain about you, certain about the product, and certain about the company you work for. Your sales script therefore needs to be built to create that certainty. You will need to first build logical certainty, but that can only take you so far. After that, you must also build emotional certainty.

Once you reach a high level of logical and emotional certainty on all three points, only then should you try to close the sale.

3. Jordan Belfort Sales Training: Handling Objections

If you have properly qualified the lead, objections are normally simply a lack of certainty. Certainty about you, about the product, or about your company. Rather than addressing the objection directly, your job is to find out exactly where that uncertainty is.

If a lead says they want to think about it before buying, for example, you can say something like “I understand you want to think about it, but what do you think of the product?” You can judge what level of certainty they have about the product by their answer.

If they love the product, it may be you they are uncertain of. You could say, “If I sold you 5 great deals before and all of them worked out amazing, you would be buying right now, wouldn’t you?” If they say yes, this is a good time to explain your awesome track record to them. The same applies to your company. Once they are certain, objections tend to melt away!
