I thought it would be a good idea to cover one of the questions here on the blog. An interesting topic that came up was does money bring you happiness. It's something that a lot of people ask and think about so I think highlighting my answer may help a lot of people. I have had very little and now have a lot, so I am well placed to talk about this topic.
Question: Do you believe that money buys happiness?
My answer:
I don't think money buys happiness. Now I think that happiness is something that is more about you as a person, your state of mind and your perspective on life, and so I don't think money buys happiness at all. However, I think that money does buy choices so for instance, if you have money, you can choose where you live; you can choose to go on holiday or not; you can choose your education, etc.
Money buys things, money buys experiences, money buys freedom, money buys choices, so I think that money helps with your happiness. I think that poverty does bring misery, or it can if you're really poor and you haven't got enough money to pay the bills; it brings stress and misery. So poverty can bring misery, I don't think money buys happiness, but I think it helps.
Another thing I'll add to that is with money after about a hundred thousand pounds a year, I don't think that earning extra money really affects your day-to-day life. My life now I don't think is much different than it was a year ago or two years ago or three years ago. It's not really that different now, and my life in 20 years' time or 10 years' time, even if I go on to be a billionaire, my day-to-day won’t change much.
I am happy with the house that I live in, the car I drive (an Autobiography top of the range Range Rover). I personally wouldn't want a more expensive car than that. I think even if I did get one, I don't think having a £300,000 Ferrari would add any happiness to my life whatsoever. So that's my answer.
