Samuel Leeds Boxing: As you may have noticed, I have been getting into boxing lately. In a recent video, you can see me fight a professional featherweight boxer as an amateur heavyweight. If you are a boxing fan, I am sure you will enjoy the video. I highly recommend watching the full video (above) until the end if you want to see how a professional handles being outside his weight class.
Being healthy is important as an entrepreneur and as an investor. Boxing, as a competitive sport, is a great way for business people to get exercise. Before I got into boxing, I found it hard to find the motivation to exercise. But because boxing requires ambition, just like entrepreneurship, it was a perfect fit for me. If you are considering getting into boxing, here are 3 tips for getting started.
Samuel Leeds Boxing: Find A Personal Trainer
People often say, ‘why pay for property training? You can find everything free on YouTube!’ In reality, however, there is also a lot of nonsense on YouTube. Paying for high-quality training eliminates the trial and error guess work and provides the support needed for success. The same is true of boxing or getting fit. Hiring a personal trainer that knows their stuff is a shortcut to getting results.
Remember, environment is more important than willpower. Having someone push you to be your best, and being around people that are trying to be their best, will help you to grow. Trying to do it alone is a lot harder and will likely fail. Find a personal trainer to work with and make a commitment.
Samuel Leeds Boxing: Set Aside Time Each Day
Consistency is key. When you first get started, you will have tons of motivation. But as work and life goes on, you will find that other priorities take precedence in your mind. That is why you need to set aside a certain amount of time for fitness and training each day. It doesn’t matter how you feel, what your work load is, or what other commitments you may have, that time is for training.
The key to doing this is to find an intense workout that you can do in a short amount of time. This is not about making fitness your life focus. This is about being consistent and devoting a small, well-planned, part of each day to training. If you properly commit, you will see the results over time!
Samuel Leeds Boxing: Challenge Yourself
Most entrepreneurs love competition. It drives us to strive for excellence and allows us a way to measure success. You may remember that I challenged Rob Moore from Progressive Property to a charity boxing match. This really got me focused on boxing. It was a clear goal and a motivator to put in 110%. This led me to not only win the fight with Moore, but to also take my own fitness seriously.
Put your own skills to the test. Challenge someone to a boxing match. This will give you a reason to train and a reason not to drop out!
